Aeroméxico introduces stopover program

Aeroméxico has unveiled a new stopover program Tuesday, allowing international passengers to visit two Mexican destinations on a single ticket with no additional airfare.

Travelers connecting through the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) may extend their layover for up to seven days at no extra cost, Giancarlo Mulinelli, the airline’s senior vice president of global sales, announced from the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco.  Aeroméxico has also secured partnerships with brands to offer preferential rates to stopover users, he said.

The program aligns Mexico’s flagship carrier with a growing global trend: Copa Airlines offers a free stopover of up to 15 days in Panama, while Iberia permits up to nine nights at no extra cost in Madrid. Other established programs include Icelandair’s seven‑day Iceland stopover, Turkish Airlines’ complimentary hotel stays in Istanbul, and TAP Air Portugal’s “Portugal Stopover” for up to ten days in Lisbon or Porto.

Meanwhile, Aeroméxico continues to expand its network with new routes from Mexico City to Tegucigalpa, Quito and Barcelona, as well as Monterrey–Paris.
