Former Ajijic resident Franklin Aaron Rainey died November 8 in Abilene, Texas at the age of 91 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in San Angelo, Texas, November 7, 1922, Rainey was funny, talented, and caring, and he made lasting friends wherever he traveled or lived during his long life, including long stints in New York, Dallas and Ajijic.
His education prepared him for a first career as a psychologist, but he was equally talented in the field of design. His Lakeside retirement was filled with friends, lunches, laughter, reading, concerts and the Lakeside Little Theater, where he is remembered for his role with April Watts in “Gaslight” and “Bermuda Avenue Triangle.”
Rainey is survived by sisters, Eloise Russell of San Angelo, Texas, and Bernice Clay and husband, James, of Abilene, Texas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Cathy Clay and husband, Neil Cannon, and Tommy Clay and wife, Sandy, Abilene, Texas; Kay Dickens and husband, Howard, San Angelo, Texas; and John Russell and wife, Donna, Lubbock, Texas; nine grandnieces and grandnephews; eight great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and a host of cherished friends.
Franklin willed his body to Southwestern Medical Center. A family remembrance will be held at a later date.
