Born on November 29, 1957, in Freeport, Illinois, Jill graduated from Freeport High School in 1975 and went on to study at Southern Illinois University.

She spent much of her adult life in Chicago before making a permanent move to Ajijic in 2002—a place she came to love deeply, especially for the opportunity to travel to ancient archaeological sites.

During her time in Ajijic, Jill worked at Diane Pearl Colecciones and later with Lorraine Farrow at Galería Sol Mexicano on Calle Colón. When Lorraine retired, Jill purchased the gallery and relocated it to its current home in Plaza Bugambilias. Sadly, the gallery will close at the end of June.

Representing talented local artists was always a source of pride and joy for Jill.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary (Goldhagen) and Edward Steimle. She is survived by her older sister, Diane Steimle of Riberas del Pilar, and will be fondly remembered by the beloved street cats who counted on her for their daily meals.

The outpouring of thoughts and prayers from her many friends, artists, and clients has brought comfort to her loved ones.

Details about a celebration of Jill’s life will be shared at a later date.
