Vallarta preps for busy winter season

Puerto Vallarta can expect a significant increase in U.S. and Canadian visitors during the upcoming winter “high” season.

Leading the way are four new nonstop routes from U.S. cities, set to launch in January 2025. Alaska Airlines will introduce a route from JFK in New York to Vallarta, with flights scheduled four times a week from January 8 through the end of April. Additional new seasonal routes to Vallarta will begin in January, with flights from Sacramento starting on January 11, and from Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri, on January 18.

Canadian discount carrier WestJet will boost its flight frequency between Winnipeg and Puerto Vallarta from five to seven weekly flights. The airline will also upgrade to higher-capacity aircraft on several routes, increasing the total number of seats available to Puerto Vallarta by five percent. During the winter months, WestJet operates flights to Vallarta from Abbotsford, Comox, Kelowna, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Toronto.

Meanwhile, Canada’s Air Transat will increase the frequency of its Montreal to Puerto Vallarta route between February 11 and March 25.

“These new flights reaffirm the growing interest in our beach destination and highlight the effectiveness of our promotional strategies,” said Jalisco Tourism Secretary Vanessa Pérez Lamas.
