The second annual Festival Gastro Cervecero (food and beer fest) takes place this Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22 in Morelia, Michoacan. This is a chance to try some micro-brews not readily available in Guadalajara and tuck into some fantastic Michoacan cuisine. Another draw is the beautifully preserved colonial architecture that defines Morelia. Founded in 1541, the city is dotted with narrow alleyways, small parks and plazas and crowned with a monumental baroque cathedral. The beer fest is held in the orchard garden at the installations of Centro de Convenciones Morelia (Ceconexpo), located at Avenida Ventura Puente, corner of Avenida Camelinas in Colonia Felix Ireta. The festival begins at 11 a.m. and includes some 40 stands promoting both national and international beer brands, tastings, conferences with chefs, sommeliers and more.
