Airbnb finally puts pen to paper

After a few false dawns, Airbnb has put its signature on an agreement with the Jalisco state government promising to deliver the three-percent accommodation tax  (Impuesto Sobre Hospedaje or ISH)

that hoteliers insist the online lodging outfit must stump up in order to create a level playing field.

In a novel move, Airbnb and Jalisco tourism authorities agreed to work together on promotional campaigns to attract more tourists to the state, as well as a pilot program to train Airbnb hosts.

Airbnb will also contribute to a statistical information website (Portal de la Ciudad) that will enable the state to understand new trends and analyze other relevant data to assist in the development and promotion of tourist offerings.
