Guadalajara journalists and photographers staged a protest in the Parque Rojo Monday to demand justice for the murder of a colleague in the neighboring state of Nayarit.

In what appears to be a deadly escalation in the violent tactics employed by criminal organizations in Jalisco, four police officers and two civilians died on the evening of Tuesday July 11 when a police convoy was the target of a bomb attack in a semi-populated area of Tlajomulco, the town located 30 kilometers south of Guadalajara centro that is the seat of the large municipality extending into the metropolitan area.

Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro has ended the speculation concerning his future, announcing that he will not run for president, nor seek any other political post after he finishes his six-year term in 2024.
