Little Chapel by the Lake

Sunday June 2, the Little Chapel by the Lake welcomes Dr. Deborah Davis Jones in the pulpit for another thoughtful sermon centered on the Bible.

Sunday, June 2, Rev. Matt Alspaugh will speak on “In Search of Awe.”

“I’ve realized that I’ve lived my life, in part, to search for awe. My interest in science, nature, music, art, and in spiritual things may be driven by a yearning for awe. What is this emotion of awe about? It seems so fundamental to our nature. Why do we desire it? Can we have more of it?”

Heart of Awareness

The Heart of Awareness Buddhist Community offers the opportunity to meditate in a supportive environment at its air conditioned Practice Center (Guadalupe Victoria 101, Ajijic) on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Sunday, June 2: 9 a.m. to noon. Each first Sunday of the month offers an opportunity for 3 contiguous hours of practice. Join us for 1, 2, or all 3 hours. Each hour includes sitting and walking meditation.

Wednesday, June 5: 4-6 p.m. One hour of sitting and walking meditation from 4 to 5 p.m. May’s Theme continues into June: “Walking the Path of Compassion.” The Brahmavihara: Joy is the topic in two videos. Vanessa Goddard discusses “Rejoicing in the Happiness of Others with Sympathetic Joy.” Scott Tusa presents “Experiencing Boundless Joyfulness” ending with a guided meditation. Discussion follows (5 to 6 p.m.).

Christ Church Lakeside

Sunday, June 2 the church will observe the second Sunday after Pentecost, in person and via Zoom at 10:30 a.m. at our normal location. John 16:33 In this world you will have trouble.  Let’s delve deeper into John 15:18-25, where Jesus prepares his disciples for the challenges they’ll face after his departure. He speaks about the world’s hatred and the importance of staying true to their beliefs.
