Charros’ pitcher’s amazing game

Leftie pitcher Orlando Lara made history October 26, throwing the first no-hitter in the history of the Charros de Jalisco.

pg7aThe Charros dominated the Águilas de Mexicali in the road game, notching up 17 runs in a one-sided victory.

Only three Águilas players managed to get on base: two from errors, and one walk.

The no-hitter was the 50th time the feat has been achieved in the winter Mexican Pacific League (LMP). The league has seen three “perfect games” in its history.

Born in Cosamaloapan, Veracruz,  Lara, 33,  started his professional career in 2006/2007 with the AAA’s Eugene Emeralds in  the Northwest League and the Fort Wayne Wizards in the Western League.  Since then he has played mostly for Mexican ball clubs in both the winter and summer leagues.

At press time, the Charros stood at 8-7, with one game remaining in their home series with the Mayos de Navojoa. They lead the series 2-0

After this weekend’s series in Culiacan, the Charros return to their home base in Zapopan for a three-game midweek series against the Venados de Mazatlan.  Games are scheduled Tuesday, November 6, Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 8. All begin at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available at boletomovil.com/charros or at the stadium box office.
