Cyclists charge over the Matute Remus suspension bridge, one of Guadalajara’s most conspicuous modern landmarks, during the Carrera Ciclista Gran Giro GDL, Sunday, May 7.  The 140-kilometer bike race, which welcomes people of all ages and skill levels, started and ended at the Glorieta Minerva statue, an older but no less prominent Guadalajara landmark.  


US Consulate relocation gathers steam

The U.S. State Department has purchased a plot of land in Guadalajara’s Colonia Monraz upon which a new U.S. Consulate General is expected to be built.

A new era for calandrias?

The first prototype design for a new diesel/electric vehicle to replace Guadalajara’s calandrias (horse-drawn carriages) was released this week. The city council has ruled that the age-old tradition is unfair to the horses and is actively looking for a replacement.
