Jalisco Tourism minister Enrique Ramos Flores introduced himself to lakeside’s expatriate community last week, appearing as a guest dignitary during the formal delivery of a batch of permanent residency immigration permits held September 13 on the grounds of the Lake Chapala Society (LCS).

Despite getting caught smack in between tropical storms churning off Mexico’s eastern and western  coastlines, Fiestas Patrias festivities in the lakeside area were kept pretty much on schedule, drawing enthusiastic though smaller-than-normal crowds. 

A timely alert to Chapala police foiled the attempted heist of a local branch of the Farmacias Guadalajara chain on Thursday, September 12.

Drawn by an intense stench of death, a pair of local field hands discovered the badly decomposed body of a man while they  were cutting down brush on the hillside above the Chapala-Ajijic Libramiento early Wednesday, September 11.

Chapala’s Municipal Council on Public Security was formally constituted Tuesday, September 10 with Mayor Joaquin Huerta presiding.
