Operacíon Amor expanded its spay and neuter program this month with a mini-clinic held September 1 and 2 in Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos, with the support of the town government.
The free surgeries offered to local families of limited means were accommodated in the quarters of the municipality’s centrally located cultural center. Participating veterinarians carried out sterilization procedures on 101 cats and dogs, with a team of Operación Amor volunteers assisting with registrations, pre- and post-operative care and grooming.
The cost for the program’s medical supplies runs to approximately 200 pesos per animal.
All those interested in supporting this successful, longstanding project are invited to attend the Bow Wow Meow Trivia fundraiser set for Saturday, September 29, at the Lake Chapala Society.
