In a sensible strategic move, ANAVETS Unit 19 and American Legion Post 7 have joined forces for the 2025 commemoration of Remembrance and Veterans Day.
ANAVETS will hold the formal ceremony honoring military personnel who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their countries and all those who have served in the armed services. The event will take place on November 11 at Mama’s Musical Bar, Calle González Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan. Doors open at 10 a.m., with guests to be seated by 10:30. The service starts at 11 a.m. sharp.
Legion Post 7 has signed up to host the Veterans Day Dinner and Dance, sponsored by Legion Sons Squadron 7, at its headquarters, Calle Morelos 114, in downtown Chapala. Doors open at 1 p.m., with dinner service starting at 3 p.m. Tickets are priced at 350 pesos per person.
The menu for the day features smoked pork chops, scalloped potatoes, broccoli salad, and dessert. A vegetarian option is available. The Old Souls Band is booked for musical entertainment.
The Legion kitchen will be closed for breakfast service on that date. Only service dogs will be admitted to the premises for the occasion.
Originally known worldwide as Armistice Day, the public holiday marks the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 when the Armistice went into effect.
