‘Mesmerizing’ Frida Kahlo experience beckons US-bound art enthusiasts

Residents and visitors in nine North American cities (eight in the United States and one in Canada) are getting the chance over the next few months to immerse themselves in the life and work of iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo through a state-of-the-art, digitally animated light show.

pg11The show is produced by Massimiliano Siccardi and Lighthouse Immersive, the team behind the recent hit “Immersive Van Gogh” experience.  In contrast to that show, however, the Kahlo exhibit includes lots of historical and biographical information.

“Mesmerizing, large-scale projections, accompanied by a ravishing musical score,” is how Lighthouse Immersive describes the show on its website.  “See the Mexico-born artist’s work come to life on a grand scale and discover the people, events, and obstacles that made her the extraordinary woman she was.”

“In this piece, we will chase Frida’s world, always in motion,” Siccardi said in a news release. “We will discover her tenderness and hostilities by taking in her observations and fantasies. Our hope is that viewers will let themselves be penetrated by Frida’s stories, and in so doing, live vicariously through her.”
