Chapala set to host second Cruz Roja Saving Lives race

For the second year running, Chapala will host a local edition of the Mexican Red Cross sporting event called “Todo México Salvando Vidas 2026” (All of Mexico Saving Lives), a combined competitive foot race and walkathon scheduled for Sunday, September 6. The event promotes physical activity and healthy lifestyles while contributing to the charitable Cruz Roja mission of saving lives.

PG16BNow in its seventh year as a nationwide series, Salvando Vidas challenges in 2026 will take place simultaneously at around 40 venues in all 32 Mexican states.  All feature three categories so that participants of different ages and fitness levels can join in either a 10-kilometer run, a 5-kilometer run, or a leisurely 3-kilometer walk.

According to local organizers, runners will set off next to the Malecón at the south end of Avenida Madero at 7 a.m. Walkers will depart from the same point ten minutes later.

Runners taking the long race route will follow Avenida Hidalgo as far as Calle San Mateo in Riberas del Pilar, then loop back through the downtown area to reach the finish line where they started via the boardwalk and Paseo Ramón Corona. The top three finishers in each category will receive trophies.

A team of 50 volunteers, Red Cross medical staff and vehicles will be assigned to provide any assistance that may arise along the way.

The registration fee for all categories is 400 pesos, payable directly at Cruz Roja Chapala headquarters on Avenida González Gallo or through hazdeporte.com and other authorized digital platforms.

Approximately 880 runners participated in Chapala’s 2025 Salvando Vidas race. Organizers estimate that 1,000 to 1,200 participants will hoof it this time around.
