Memorial Day
Daniel Cordero and the Charlie Cook Band will perform at American Legion Post 7 Chapala’s memorial Day dinner, Monday, May 27, 1 to 5:30 p.m. A roast-pig in the pit menu is offered (and a vegetarian option) for 400 pesos, tickets available at the post. Raffle prizes, a liquor basket and a 50-50 drawing will be held.
Cats and dogs
The Chapala Centro de Salud will hold a sterilization program May 27 to 29, 9 a.m. Requisites: 4 months or older, with collar, clean, not sick, 12 hours fasting, bring a blanket for after the surgery, females must not be in heat, recently have had a litter or be lactating.
Golf tourney
The Chula Vista Country Club is holding the 8th annual Golf Tournament benefiting the Niños San Juan de Dios Children’s home on Friday, June 7. The all-inclusive cost is 1,500 pesos. Contact the club at 376-766-2515 for more information.
Chili Cookoff
American Legion Post 7 Auxiliary is holding its first annual Bring the Heat! Chili Cookoff fundraiser, scheduled for Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Entry sheets and rules are available at the Legion. Payment is due at time of registration. All entries due by June 9. Each chili entry costs 200 pesos. Chili tasting bowls are 50 pesos per person. Tasting begins at 1 p.m. All proceeds to benefit the Little Blue School in Chapala.
