Weekly Worship - April 1, 2016

St. Mark’s Anglican, Guadalajara

On Sunday, April 3,  English Mass begins at the regular time, 10:30 a.m., and Dr. Jim Priddy’s sermon will focus on the day’s readings, including the famous story of “doubting Thomas” in John 20 and the account in Acts 5 of the apostles, taken before their Jewish leaders and testifying that Jesus had risen.  The choir will sing English Easter hymns derived from 16th century Latin, French and German tunes. 


Young activists give a leg up to pet sterilization campaign

A group of young Mexican citizens with big hearts and sincere concern for animal welfare jumped on the bandwagon for last weekend’s Operación Amor spay and neuter clinic, providing transportation and on-site supervision for dozens of dogs and cats that otherwise would have missed out on the cost-free surgeries.

Foreign-born connoisseurs of Mexican cuisine Carol Sanchez, Judy King and Lorraine Russo put their palates to the test, sampling 23 versions of capirotada as head judges of Ajijic’s second annual bread pudding fair. They were assisted by four city-based guest judges.

Holiday music and entertainment

A jam-packed program of special events will be going on at different venues in the Chapala area through the Holy Week vacation period. Most are wrapped into the Festival of Traditional Mexican Music.
