Religion & morality

Dear Sir,

Metro area needs more churches, archbishop says. (Reporter, June 1, 2013). I can understand why. The church needs more immoral people.

In the United States, the number of atheists accounts for about 10 percent of the general population. However, they account for only .209 percent of the prison population. Catholics are 23.9 percent of the general population, but 39.164 percent of the prison population. Study after study has proven that nations with a strong belief in God have a much higher crime rate than countries with a weak belief in God. Mexico has the 25th highest crime rate of any nation.

Mexico has the highest murder rate of any country, with 18.1 per 100,000. The United States is third with 5.0 per 100,000. There are 10 that are below 1.0 per 100,000 and they are mostly atheistic.

“While officially, the Catholic Church condemns the drug trade and the overwhelming violence being perpetrated by the cartels, it is no secret that priests throughout Mexico have taken large sums of money from the drug traffickers to fund church projects and in one case, to even construct an entirely new cathedral.” Dave Gibson, examiner.com.

Whether it is the Catholic church, Protestant church, or Islamic mosques, religion breeds crime and immorality. For a better society, quit building churches and improve the public schools. The most educated, secular nations are the most moral.
