Festival de Aves puts winged wonders front & center

The Lake Chapala Bird Festival, held each year under the auspices of Instituto Corazón de la Tierra (ICT), is taking place through Sunday, June 9, with a program of activities starting in the framework of the local government’s Sustainable Energy Expo running this weekend at the Chapala Malecón.


Chapala Jesus statue might be demolished

For altering the federal zone of Lake Chapala without proper authorization from the National Water Commission (Conagua), the Chapala government is facing a steep fine and the possible demolition of the Jesús Pescador statue and unfinished bridge linking the waterfront Malecón to the artificial island where the towering religious figure stands.
