According to an exclusive report in the Milenio newspaper, business magnate Elon Musk has agreed to open a Tesla plant to produce electric vehicles in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon in early 2023.
The newspaper revealed that it had access to documents showing that an agreement has been reached with the state government to open a factory in the Santa Catarina municipality. Musk had visited Monterrey in late October, sparking rumors of potential investment in the state.
Musk, considered the second richest person in the world, is the founder, CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX, angel investor, CEO and product architect of Tesla, Inc., owner and CEO of Twitter, Inc., founder of The Boring Company, co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI, and president of the philanthropic Musk Foundation.
