There’s no resting up for the Astros de Jalisco basketball team. Just a few weeks after lifting the CIBACOPA (Pacific Coast Circuit) title, the Guadalajara-based team began their quest for this year’s National Professional Basketball League (LMBP) crown.
It’s unusual for teams to play in two consecutive leagues in the same season, but the Astros management believe their players are up to the task, even though the competition in the LMBP - Mexico’s premier basketball league - will be tougher than in CIBACOPA. A 2-0 series win against Correcaminos UAT Victoria in their opening games proved that Astros are still firing on all cylinders.
The next home games at the Astros Arena on Avenida Avila Camacho are on Friday, August 5, 8 p.m. against Fuerza Regio (Monterrey) and Saturday, August 6, 6 p.m. against the same opponents. Tickets available at boletomovil.com.
The Astros Arena is also hosting this year’s LMBP All-Star game, scheduled Sunday, August 28, 5 p.m.
