Local sculptor Marco Antonio Jasso will soon debut a new work honoring “Frida,” the search-and-rescue dog that shot to international fame following the September 7 and 19 earthquakes in central Mexico.

Despite boasting of several small parks and a few larger ones, Guadalajara is mainly defined by its intense urban-ness, a fact not lost on Marco Castro Cosío, the man behind Bus Roots, a company which, over the course of seven years, has built a fleet of food truck-sized vehicles with verdant gardens for rooftops. 

Another “movie-meet” (video viewing and lunch) is set for Sunday, November 26, 2 p.m., put on by Democrats Abroad Guadalajara Chapter at the American Society (Amsoc) in Colonia Chapalita.

It seems artists in the Guadalajara metropolitan area can’t stop drawing the ire of the city’s Catholic community. 

Guadalajara Mayor Enrique Alfaro is spearheading the construction of nine works of art to be installed at spots around the city selected for maximum visibility.

The Grupo Aeroporutario del Pacifico (GAP), operators of 13 Pacific Coast airports in Mexico, began work earlier this week on several projects in the Guadalajara International Airport they say will greatly improve a variety of services in the long term – but will most likely cause delays for users in the short term.
