Earthquake simulation

Under state government instructions, schools and public offices across Jalisco will run an earthquake simulation on Monday, April 23, 12.30 p.m. Although this comes in the wake of tremors felt in Guadalajara and other parts of the state last week, it was scheduled to coincide with State Civil Protection Day, celebrated annually in Jalisco on April 22.


More long weekends

Jalisco’s 2.2 million students started classes again last Monday after two weeks of Easter vacation, but can look forward to two long weekends soon.  Classes are suspended on Monday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 1 for Dia del Niño and Labor Day, respectively.  Another mini vacation will be taken on May 14 and 15 to celebrate Teacher’s Day.

Airports register big March passenger bump

Western Mexico airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) says preliminary terminal passenger traffic figures for March increased six percent compared to the previous year.  Domestic passenger traffic increased 5.8 percent, while international passenger traffic rose 6.2 percent.
