Christmas fairs

• La Huerta de Serna (Tuesday Market venue) holds its 8th annual Christmas Bazar, Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lots of local artists and artisans will display their latest creations of jewelry, art, crafts, candles, gourmet goods, cookies and much more.

• The Lake Chapala Society hosts a Christmas Fair, Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, noon to 5 p.m. Up to 70 vendors, including Poco A Poco San Pedro Itzícan, will display their festive gifts, handicrafts, calendars, candles, pottery, embroidery, decorations, artwork, jewelry, knitted items, and other great ideas from Poco a Poco’s sewing program. The LCS children’s art program will again sell their inspiring Christmas cards. A food court will offer potato pancakes and German brats. Palm readings and massages will be available. Entrance is 50 pesos, children under 12 are free.

• La Bella Vida holds a Fiesta de Navidad, Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Constitución 6, Ajijic.

Open Circle

Daniel Medeles, director of the Mariachi Pedro Rey school in Ajijic will lead a performance by students, “Our First Step in Mexican Music,” Sunday, December 4, 10:30 a.m. at Open Circle in the Lake Chapala Society.

The school is an alternative for musical study focused on mariachi for children, youth and adults from Lakeside communities.
From the hand of Pedro Rey a legend in Mariachi music, Medeles, Mark Fogelquist and the entire team of teachers perform the task of teaching and motivating each student for the correct execution of their instruments, including guitar, violin, trumpet, vihuela, guitarrón and the children’s choir.
The school is at Calle Constitution Street 147 in Ajijic,. Activities are Mondays and Tuesdays.

Music to help the kids

Stan Foster presents a Mistletoe Music Magic Christmas Show, Friday, December 9, 5 to 7 p.m. at Scallion Ajijic Bistro to benefit the Saul Rodeles Elementary School in Ajijic. The school is in need of repair, supplies, facilities and volunteers. Tickets, 450 pesos, including an appetizer buffet, are available at Scallions. More info: Phyllis at WhatsApp, 480-289-0014.

The Terranova Institute invites the public to a Christmas Tree Lighting, Friday, December 9, 6:30 p.m.

Holiday home tour

The Raquet Club is holding a Holiday Home Tour and Art Show Saturday, December 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. Ten beautiful homes will be open for viewing. Each home owner will guide people through their homes. Refreshments will be served on the terrace, where there will be an art show from 1 to 6 p.m.

Tickets, 300 pesos, are available at the Raquet Club office, It’s Kinda Bazar, Gosha’s, Trinity Real Estate, Fenix Realty, Mi Casa Real Estate, and Hernandez Realty Group.

LCS fashion show

Alma Gutierrez presents a fashion show at the Lake Chapala Society as a   LCS fundraiser Wednesday, December 14, 2:30 to 4 p.m. Admission, 350 pesos, includes appetizers. A cash bar will be available.

Behind the Walls

The School for Special Children is holding a Behind the Walls Home Tours once again this season. See some of Lakeside’s most luxurious homes. Tour dates are December 15, January 26, February 23 and March 23. Tickets, 300 pesos per tour or 1,300 for all the tours, are available at Charter Club Tours, La Bella Vida, Mia’s Boutique. The tours meet at the Ajijic Pier, second parking lot, west of Calle Colon at 10:15 a.m. Masks are required. Information: Jessie, 376-766-1438.
