Art Walkers Carnival
Eighty-two artists will be displaying their works at 42 locations during the third annual Art Walkers Carnival, running Friday to Sunday, February 6 to 8, in Ajijic, San Antonio and San Juan Cosala.
The ticket/map, costing 50 pesos, covers all three days, and is available at Art Connection, Independencia 153D in San Antonio; Huizache Gallery, 16 de Septiembre 22 in Ajijic; Axixic Art Gallery, Ocampo 200 in West Ajijic and Voz al Viento (Isdidro Xilonzochitl’s gallery), Porfirio Diaz 120 in San Juan Cosala.

Exhibits

• The Museo El Hospitalito, Calle Cardinal Sur 66 in San Juan Cosala, opens an exhibition of oil paintings by Efren Gonzalez on Sunday, February 8, noon.
• The Centro Cultural Ajijic will host a dual exhibition opening with a cocktail inauguration on Saturday, February 7, from 3-7 p.m. The ground floor will feature a collective show of works by expat and local artists, including alumni of the Neill James Children’s Art Program (established 1954). Meanwhile, the second floor will present “Sincretismo Mágico,” a solo exhibition by artist Jesús V. López Vega.
• A retrospective show of the 50 years of work of artist Pat Apt is up at the Ajijic Museo de Arte, Privada Flores Magon 3, in West Ajijic.

• Jeffree White and Stefania Starlight Zuly will perform at a fundraiser for the Riberas Pet Store, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Hidalgo 212, Riberas del Pilar.
• The Romeos, featuring Steve Lashbrook on keys and Vern Parkinson on Guitar, play El BarCo rooftop, 3 p.m.

• Baritone Carlos Lopez and soprano Janeene Williams, accompanied by pianist Roberto Mora, will sing pieces from the operas Toreador, Barber of Seville, Granada and more, on February 14, 6 to 8 p.m. at La Estacion Sourdough Pizza in Riberas del Pilar. Cover, 300 pesos. Tickets at the venue.
Northern Lights Festival
The Northern Lights Music Festival runs from February 15 through 28 and brings more than thirty international musicians to Ajijic for two packed weeks of performances. Tickets for the Festival Series performances at the Auditorio de la Ribera (CCAR) remain available at La Nueva Posada Hotel on weekday afternoons.
This season features full chamber orchestra performances of Beethoven and Shostakovich at the Gala Concert on Friday, February 20. The closing concert on Saturday, February 28, features all of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. There is also jazz with Juno Award–winning vocalist Caity Gyorgy. • BRAVO! Theatre presents “The Dark Lady” by Jessica B. Hill, Friday, February 13, 7:30 p.m. and at 4 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, February 15 and 16, and Friday through Sunday, February 20 to 22.

Lakeside Little Theatre

Next up at Lakeside Little Theatre is the musical “Something Rotten,” the hilarious Broadway hit about two brothers trying to beat Shakespeare at his own game. Children’s Art Sale
The Efrén González Children’s Art Program will present a Children’s Art Sale Friday, February 13, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Friday Art Market in La Huerta, West Ajijic (same location as the Tuesday Market).
Discover a fresh selection of art cards, featuring artwork not shown at previous monthly sales, including new Valentine’s cards created especially for February. All cards are high-quality reproductions of original works by the children in the program. A limited selection of original artwork will also be available. Fifty percent of all proceeds go directly to the young artists, supporting and encouraging the next generation of creative Lakeside talent.
Founded by internationally recognized local artist Efrén González, the program serves children ages 7 to 12, nurturing creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
