The Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco begins its first season of 2026. The inaugural program celebrates the 150th anniversary of Jalisco composer José Rolón with his piece “Cuauhtémoc,” and features Prokofiev’s cantata “Alexander Nevsky.” The conductor is José Luis Castillo, with the Coro Municipal de Zapopan and contralto Julietta Beas.

State Choir & more

Free recitals are offered this month on “Musical Tuesdays” at the Ex Convento del Carmen in the city center. February 10: Coro del Estado de Jalisco. The program includes Franz Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G Major and Bob Chilcott’s A Little Jazz Mass. February 17: the Híkuri Trio, comprised of clarinetists Alejandro Rodríguez, Víctor Hugo Sánchez and Roberto Leos. February 24: The Gallos, a brass and percussion sextet made up of musicians from the Jalisco State Band.
