NCA Honors

The organizers of the Niños of Chapala and Ajijic (NCA) will host the 2014-2015 students and their parents and sponsors in a Saturday, July 19, noon graduation fiesta at the NCA office, Chacaltita 20A in Chapala. Receiving special recognition will be those students who are graduating from pre-school, primary, secondary, high school (prepa) and university.

Friends and benefactors of Villa Infantil de Guadalupe y San Jose are invited to join the sisters and children in celebrating the orphanage’s 19th anniversary. The Saturday, July 11 event will begin with the celebration of the Holy Mass at 1 p.m.

Post 7

American Legion Post 7 in Chapala is marking U.S. Independence Day with an old-fashioned Fourth of July picnic. Those attending will begin gathering at the post in Chapala on Saturday, July 4, 1 p.m. The lunch, including fried chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad and a chocolate sundae, will be served to revelers at 2 p.m. Tickets at 130 pesos can be purchased at the door.

Firemen’s Breakfast

The lakeside Fireside Assistance Group is hosting a Bomberos Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, June 20 at the firehouse on the Libremiento. This assistance group is made up of local supporters who continue to work with north-of-the-border organizations to gather used firefighting uniforms and equipment for the local crew. This breakfast event is an opportunity to help out and to meet the lakeside firefighters.

Man Down Fundraiser

Lakeside resident James Lonneville was injured in a terrible motorcycle accident on Monday, May 18. To assist him and his family with medical expenses, a group of friends have organized a fundraising event on Sunday, June 14, 3 p.m.
