Bilingual Toastmasters

Arturo Gutierrez took first place at a Spanish speech contest at the Monday, February 16 meeting of the Lake Chapala Bilingual Toastmasters Club. Marrisa Urrutia and Carmen Guzman ranked second and third. Gutierrez will represent the local group at a regional competition in Guadalajara on Saturday, March 28. 

The Toastmasters will meet in an English session on Monday, February 23, 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sala of the Lake Chapala Society (LCS). For English information call Guy at (376) 766-5181. Spanish information is available from Marissa at (33)1600-5937.

Bilingual Toastmasters

The English speech contest at the recent meeting of the Lake Chapala Bilingual Toastmasters saw Guy Jobidan take first place and Karuna Gomez Mont second. Jobidan will represent the group at the March 28 competition in Guadalajara. 

The group will hold a speech competition in Spanish during the Monday, February 16, 7 to 8:30 p.m. meeting in the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Sala. The winner will also participate in the Guadalajara event.

Two guests joined members during the recent local Toastmasters meeting. Topics for the talks included keeping New Year’s resolutions, overcoming procrastination and questioning to transform.

Bilingual Toastmasters

Six guests attended the most recent meeting of the Lake Chapala Bilingual Toastmasters club where new members Juan Magallon Moreno and Oscar Martinez assisted with the program. Maureen Jones received the bronze Competent Communicator award. 

The group will meet for a Spanish session of Monday February 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sala at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS). Members can use the Ramon Corona entrance to the society grounds.

Bilingual Toastmasters

The Lake Chapala Bilingual Toastmasters’ meeting will be held, in Spanish, at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) sala on Monday, January 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. During the January 12 meeting, the presented speeches included Janice Taylor and her introduction to the work of Juan Goytosolo, Karuna Gomez Mont, who spoke about the enjoyment of meditation, and Arch Crane, who offered tips on being a good conversationalist.

Family History

Lakeside residents have the opportunity to visit the new lakeside Family History Center during an open house on Sunday, January 11, from 3 to 4 p.m. 

Center Director Pam Ames will be on hand to show how the center can help those working on family history and research projects. Included in the resources will be free access to major family history websites such as Ancestry.com, Find My Past and My Heritage. Among the avid users of the information will be the more than 90 members of the Genealogy Forum.
