Democrats Abroad (DA) Mexico is holding a virtual annual general meeting (AGM) Tuesday, May 27 to Wednesday, June 4, via WebEx and a cocktail hour via Zoom.
“An estimated 1.5 million U.S. citizens reside in Mexico, and our job is to help all of them register to vote in U.S. federal, state, and local elections,” said DA Mexico President Will Chapman. “Votes from abroad were responsible for many Democratic victories in the 2018 midterms, and they will make a difference again in 2020.”
He continued: “Getting Republicans out and Democrats in this year, however, is going to be a collective effort. It’s going to require us to work together nationwide like never before, keeping our eyes set on one main goal: getting every U.S. voter in Mexico to vote.”
The virtual AGM keynote speaker is Ben LaBolt, one of the foremost political advisors and communications strategists in competitive U.S. elections, who served as National Press Secretary for President Obama’s reelection campaign. LaBolt will explore what’s at stake in the 2020 elections, the role Democrats Abroad can play, and lessons learned from the Obama campaign.
Also speaking is Bhavana Kodira, deputy national director of the State Democratic Committees Best Practices Institute.
