Perez notches up fourth Formula One victory

Guadalajara Formula One driver Sergio “Checo” Perez won the Singapore Grand Prix on October 3, his fourth victory in his 11-year F1 career.

The local driver lead from start to finish, and although he was handed a five-second penalty for a safety-car infringement, he finished far enough ahead of second placed Charles Leclerc for that not to matter.

With Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen virtually guaranteed of the title, Perez’s main goal is to finish the season in second place. He is currently just two points behind Ferrari’s Leclerc.

There are two more races (Suzuka, Japan and Austin, United States) before the F1 circus comes to Mexico for the Mexican Grand Prix, on Sunday, October 30 at the Hermanos Rodriguez Autodrome in Mexico City.

Guadalajara show run

Prior to that, Perez will return to his hometown for a “show run” on the streets of Guadalajara on Tuesday, October 25, an event that is expected to draw a huge crowd. A similar show run last year along the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City attracted nearly 130,000 people.

The car that Perez will drive in Guadalajara is the model with which Red Bull Racing won the 2011 Formula One season with driver Sebastian Vettel.  The single-seater car is one of the most dominant in F1 history, winning 12 of 19 races, with 27 podiums, 18 pole positions and 10 fastest laps.

“This is going to be a special moment for me, my family and our Mexican fans,” Perez said of the upcoming event in Guadalajara, the location and time of which has not been confirmed.
