The Charros de Jalisco baseball team are tied 1-1 in their Mexican Pacific League (LMP) series quarter-final with the Venados de Mazatlan.
The Venados battered their opponents 7-1 in the first game of the seven-game series in their home stadium on January 1 but lost 4-2 in a close duel the following evening.
Large, enthusiastic crowds are expected for games three, four and five, to be played in the Charros Stadium (Panamericana) in Zapopan on Thursday, January 4, 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 5, 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 7, 6 p.m. (tickets available at boletomovil.com).
The Charros are the in-form team of the league, after finishing the second half of the regular season in first position in the standings, a complete reversal of the first half, when they struggled, finishing second to bottom.
This turnaround has been credited mostly to recently appointed coach Benjamin Gil, who has masterminded the team’s change in fortunes over the past six weeks.
The Charros were LMP champions in the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons.
