Top-quality aquarium enlarges farm zone

Guadalajara’s Michin Aquarium has expanded its Achcalli farm to include several new species of animals, including flamingos, ducks, turtles, capybaras and miniature pigs.

Located in the Parque Alcalde, the Acuario Michin houses 150 marine species in more than 50 exhibits, including sharks, manta rays, clownfish, sea horses, jellyfish, octopuses, crocodiles and more.

The aquarium opened in 2017, and its affiliated farm two years later.

The aquarium has slowly started to recover after experiencing financial losses due to the reduced capacity mandated during the Covid-19 pandemic, commercial director Juan Carlos Pérez García told media this week, prior to the opening of the expanded farm.  Currently, the attraction is receiving on average around 800 visitors per day, he said.
