A famous, diminutive statue of a urinating boy in Brussels, Belgium was decked out in a special Mexican costume this week, as many nations around the world gave a nod to Mexican Independence.

Mexico has many heroes from the Independence era, some well-known, other less so.

Apparently resting on the twin pillars of innovation and safety in numbers, a tony high-rise business tower and airy, two-story food court is making a respectable showing a stone’s throw from the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara.

Residing in an area of Guadalajara that is full of amazing restaurants of all price ranges, I still like to find a good, new one (and hope it doesn’t go out of business with all the competition). 

Lakeside’s first Art Battle competition, held Saturday, August 24 at the Hotel Real in La Floresta, stood out as the area’s most unique art event in memory.
