The death of a Puerto Vallarta councilor brings to three the number of candidates for offices in Jalisco who have lost their lives during the current election season, either by violent means or in suspicious circumstances.

The last of four former police officers from Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos implicated in the notorious 2020 case of brutality and of death of Giovanni Lòpez was captured on April 11 in Torreón in a joint operation executed by Coahuila and Jalisco authorities.
