More places to experience Day of the Dead

San Antonio Tlayacapan opens its two-day Día de Muertos program Tuesday, November 1 with the Desfile de Calaveras skeleton costume parade departing the plaza at 6:30 p.m. to end at the village cemetery on Calle Allen W. Lloyd for the narration of holiday legends.

pg13cAn exhibit of arts and crafts produced in the recent Ahuehuete workshops follows at the plaza, 8 p.m.

Various cultural events are slated Wednesday from 6 p.m. at the plaza, closing with a performance by the Chapala Brass Band at 8:30 p.m.

Jocotepec festivities tied together under the slogan ¡Qué Viva la Muerte! are scheduled for October 30 through November 2, centered at the town plaza.

Ecléctico Fest set for Sunday from 8 p.m. will bring together bands and solo performers of varied genres in musical tribute to the dearly departed. Along with an exhibition of traditional memorial altars, the will be a special space for animal lovers to place offerings of favorite treats, photographs and other objects in remembrance of their beloved pets.
