This year’s Northern Lights Festival de Febrero has branched out to include concerts in two venues in the Guadalajara area — the spectacular new PALCCO complex on the city’s north side and the centrally located Teatro Alarife Martin Casillas.
The principal flautist in the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, Belarus-born Antonio Dubatovka, returns to Ajijic Saturday, March 5, to join well known pianist Timothy Welch in a performance of Russian music for flute and piano.

The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) got off to a novel start on its 2016 winter/spring season last weekend as world renowned French flutist-turned-director Patrick Gallois headed up a program that was innovative in many ways, most obviously in bringing on stage his wife, Finnish artist Tiina Osara, to create a large-format action painting as the musicians played the evening’s centerpiece, the wintry and esoteric Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 105, by Jean Sibelius.

The Domingo Lobato Association organ festival, featuring some of Mexico’s most accomplished organists, continues at various Guadalajara churches.
