Casi Nuevo (Almost New, in Spanish), the consignment and thrift shop located on the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar, hit a record high sales milestone in November when manager Shirley Kollin and the volunteer staff were able to generate 63,000 pesos from sales.
One hundred percent of the sale price of donated items and 30 percent of the consignment goods sold at Casi Nuevo are divided between three lakeside charities: The School for Special Children, Have Hammer ... Will Travel, and the Lake Chapala Society Education Fund.
Casi Nuevo is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and relies on the contribution and consignment of merchandise to generate income for the children’s charities. In order to increase the store’s charitable contribution, Casi Nuevo also organizes and conducts estate sales.
