Next month Ajijic will again be blessed with the sound of top-quality classical music as the Festival de Febrero takes center stage.
Amidst the harmonies, a unique collaboration is unfolding, presenting challenges and triumphs in orchestrating this year’s events.
The Auditorio de la Ribera, owned by the state government, serves as the festival’s primary venue for six of the festival’s 14 concerts. Navigating the intricacies of ticket sales, the Festival de Febrero is grappling with the nuances of “Voy Al Teatro,” the ticketing system mandated by state authorities.
To streamline the process for in-person sales, festival volunteers led by Maureen Welch have established a box office at the Auditorio, offering a convenient one-stop shopping experience for tickets. However, for online sales, audiences are directed to the state government website to purchase Auditorio tickets but directed to the Festival de Febrero website for “off-Auditorio” concerts, introducing a layer of complexity to the ticketing process.
