Lake Chapala Baptist

Through Adam, sin crept into the world like a shadow at dusk, carrying death in its wake. But through Jesus Christ, grace rose brighter than the dawn. One man’s fall brought ruin, yet Christ’s obedience opened the gates of life. The law uncovered the depth of our wandering hearts, but where sin overflowed, grace poured deeper still. Death once wore the crown, ruling with fear and sorrow, but now grace reigns through righteousness, leading weary souls into eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Unitarian Universalist

Bob Craft presents “Remember and Flourish” at the Sunday, May 31, noon service of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Using his own memories as examples, presenter Bob Craft will suggest that using AI to seek context around historical events we lived through may help to bring back fading details and memories of our personal stories attached to them.  He will also present evidence that AI can reframe memories of difficult times in history by integrating them into a larger context, suggesting that even in dark times, there is hope and reason to believe that not only have we survived but can and will flourish individually and as a human society.

The Service Associate is Michael Swords and the musician is Wiley Beveridge.

All services of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship are held at San Lucas 19, Riberas de Pilar. For more information: lcuuf.org. Services are broadcast live. See the website for Zoom directions.

Common Ground Fellowship / Little Chapel by the Lake

Sunday, May 31, 11 a.m., Dr. Ted Rogers continues his series in the book of Romans as he explores the topic of “Understanding Righteousness from God’s perspective.” Self-made men. Do they actually exist? Most people went to school in a building they didn’t build. Many in the world of commerce depend on the railroad or on air cargo to move their product. Frankly, most of us got where we are because someone somewhere along the way believed in us, perhaps even invested in us. This then begs the question—How do we see ourselves, versus how God sees us?

CGFLC is a bilingual, friendly, and all-inclusive place to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe the church exists primarily for the benefit of those outside it as we seek to make Christ’s love known to others by serving our community in a feeding ministry and various other forms of aid. Additionally, we gladly accept donations of clothing and non-perishable food items that go directly to families in need in our purple donation box in front of the Chapel. Among our missions, we also host Saturday’s car wash fundraiser for Mama Cleo’s boys’ home 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each week and we have a Saturday outreach to children in need in Chapala.

There is a time of singing on Sundays, 9 a.m. and a prayer time at 10 a.m. The main worship service begins at 11 a.m. and includes a children’s church. Wednesdays at 5 p.m.,  Belva Velazquez leads a Bible Study.

Christ Church Lakeside

At Christ Church Lakeside, Anglican Church of Mexico, we respond to God’s grace through Jesus Christ by seeking His will daily—nurturing one another through prayer, service, and the sharing of our gifts. All are welcome in our church family and invited to experience a caring and faith-filled community in the heart of Lakeside.

We invite the community to join us each Sunday for worship, Holy Communion, and fellowship at 10:30 a.m. This week, Rev. Jim Powers will offer the homily, “The Great Commission and Promise,” based on Matthew 28:16–20, reflecting on Christ’s call to go into the world with faith, courage, and the assurance that He is always with us. Following the service, everyone is warmly invited to stay for fellowship, cake, and coffee.

Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Danny Borkowski leads a weekly Bible Study open to all. Participants may attend in person or by Zoom. For directions and Zoom information, please call Danny at 376-766-2495.

Christ Church Lakeside is located on the Carretera in West Ajijic, next to the Smokehouse Restaurant. No matter where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome to join us—we are all seekers walking together in faith.

Lakeside Presbyterian

Sunday, May 31, at 10 a.m., Rev. Carolyn Hanen will give the sermon, “Approaching God with humility, honesty, and reverence” from Ecclesiastes 5.

What if one of the greatest barriers between God and us is all our talking? In Ecclesiastes 5, the Teacher turns his attention to worship and offers a startling warning: it is possible to speak many words to God … without ever really listening to Him. This week in our series Everything Is Never Enough, we’ll explore what it means to approach God with humility, honesty, reverence—and fewer words.

English-language service is at 10 a.m. at Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs. For those with limited mobility, there’s also a small elevator at the front. Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.

If you are unable to attend in person, join us live on Facebook at lpcchapala or on YouTube at @lpcchapala.
