Lake Chapala Baptist

Under grace, sin no longer reigns over the believer because Christ has transformed our position, our master, and our direction. Once sin ruled like a cruel tyrant, but now we rise to walk in the newness of life. The chains of condemnation lie shattered at the feet of mercy, and the heart once drawn to darkness now turns toward righteousness. Where sin once abounded, grace overflows even more, drawing us ever nearer to God. No longer bound beneath the law of sin and death, we now walk in the liberty of the Spirit.

Unitarian Universalist

Rev. Matt Alspaugh presents “The Flourishing Community” at the Sunday, June 7, noon service of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

What makes an organization — a team, a company, a town, a nation or, for that matter, this fellowship — function well? How can the people that are part of such an organization grow and develop most fully? Clearly many traditional organizational models just aren’t working anymore, so what needs to change to create flourishing communities?

The Service Associate is Wiley Beveridge and the musician is Wiley Beveridge.

All services of the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship are held at San Lucas 19, Riberas de Pilar. For more information: lcuuf.org. Services are broadcast live. See the website for zoom directions.

Common Ground Fellowship

Little Chapel by the Lake

Sunday, June 7, Dr. Wayne Cook continues his series on What We Believe, most specifically he explores the age old burning question of, “What We Believe about End Times.” Lay people and scholars alike have discussed this topic tirelessly for the last 2000 years. We all want to know what happens next. The disciples were the same, asking of Jesus three questions: when will the temple be destroyed, what will be the sign of Jesus’ coming, and what is the sign of the end of the age? Jesus answers all three questions but in a tightly interwoven way that even scholars today still debate which foretelling goes with which question. Please join us this Sunday at 11:00 for a time of worship, fellowship, and delving into scripture together.

CGFLC is a bilingual, friendly, and all-inclusive place to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe the church exists primarily for the benefit of those outside it as we seek to make Christ’s love known to others by serving our community in a feeding ministry and various other forms of aid. Additionally, we gladly accept donations of clothing and non-perishable food items that go directly to families in need in our purple donation box in front of the Chapel. Among our missions, we also host Saturday’s car wash fundraiser for Mama Cleo’s Boys Home, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a time of singing on Sundays, 9 a.m. and a prayer time at 10 a.m. The main worship service begins at 11 a.m. and includes a children’s church. Belva Velazquez teaches a Bible Study on Sharpening Your Sword: understanding scripture. Wednesdays, 5 p.m.

Lakeside Presbyterian

Sunday, June 7, at 10 a.m. Rev. Carolyn Hansen will give the sermon, “Everything is Never Enough: The Wisdom of Loving Our Limits” from Ecclesiastes 7.

This week in our series Everything Is Never Enough, we’ll explore how true wisdom begins—not when we master life—but when we learn to live faithfully within our limits. We spend much of our lives trying to gain control. We make plans. We prepare. We learn from experience. As we get older, we assume we’ve become wise enough to manage life well. And then something happens that reminds us how fragile everything really is. A phone call. A diagnosis. A betrayal. A loss we never saw coming. Ecclesiastes 7 asks a difficult question: What does wisdom look like when life refuses to stay under our control?

English-language service is at 10 a.m. at Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs. For those with limited mobility, there’s also a small elevator at the front. Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.
