As predicted in last week’s edition of this newspaper, the Guadalajara Chivas soccer club has signed its former player Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, the all-time top goal scorer for the national team.
Hernandez, 35, who since leaving the Chivas at age 22 has enjoyed an illustrious career with top teams in Europe and the United States, will be presented to fans at the Akron Stadium on Saturday, January 27, 8 p.m. Free tickets for this welcome home party were snapped up quickly on the Chivas online platform this week. Fans hope the return of their former star will be a catalyst to launch another bid for a Liga Mx championship.
