Dear Sir,
Following the loss of Tepehua Centro Comunitario founder Moonie King, the last six months have indeed been a challenge. Nonetheless, the center moves on with Moonie’s vision in mind.
We are so appreciative of the groundwork laid by Moonie and very thankful to all the volunteers, both Mexican and expats, who have stepped up to the plate during this difficult time.
We could not have done it without her vision and your help.
Where are we headed now?
Our first priority is our youth education voucher program. At present, we are helping over 150 students from kindergarten to college with tuition and supplies, and our next voucher distribution will be in July and August. We will be looking for sponsors to help maintain and improve this important program for youth development.
Our other programs are still in place and going strong.
Our medical and dental clinics and pharmacy are open three days a week and servicing many people living below the poverty line who could not otherwise afford these services.
Last year, we initiated a diabetes education and nutrition class, which currently has approximately 50 students. We are supplying them with valuable education and medical supplies. Mexico has the highest rate of diabetes of any country in the world.
We administer the HOW (Health Outreach for Women) van that travels to the indigenous areas around the lake to educate women on health issues.
Every month, we distribute more than 50 food and hygiene packages to needy families and individuals. And thanks to a generous sponsor we are maintaining our own water filtration plant, where we supply drinkable water to many people way below the poverty line.
Our sewing class is still going strong and supplying income to a group of women who sell their goods at local fairs and the Tepehua Treasures store in Riberas. This store is doing well but we can always use your good used furniture and clothing and other items to help fund our operations. Please keep us in mind when you are ready to donate items to charitable causes.

Many thanks for your support down through the years. Your support going forward is crucial to our mission.
