Lake Chapala Society issues statement to clear the air

The Lake Chapala Society board of directors has issued an “Official Statement” regarding irregularities that occurred during the March 17 Annual General Meeting (AGM), and what has been happening behind the scenes in the aftermath.

pg3a“We recognize that the AGM did not go as any of us had hoped, and we write now to address what happened openly and honestly, to explain where matters stand, and to commit to a clear path forward,” the introductory paragraph reads in part.

The 928-word missive bore the names of President Yolanda Martinez and Secretary Greg Custer as its authors. Although dated March 20, the document started circulating on the LCS website and Facebook page on the afternoon of Saturday, March 21, four full days after the AGM was adjourned. It was not distributed to members by email.

The second section addresses the major mishap that upset the proceedings.
