Dear Sir,

We are exposed to so much talent in Mexico: the amazing mariachi bands, the incredible and imaginative artwork, the weaving, the embroidery, the unsurpassed tastes of culinary masterpieces, the deep and resonating songs, the folkloric dancers, the copper pieces, the gardener’s beautiful flowers, a cobblestone street laid with bare hands, the silversmiths crafts ... the list goes on and on.

Although I like most of what Guadalajara Mayor Alfaro has done, I’m mystified as to why he has taken up the cause of eliminating the wonderful Guadalajara tradition of calandrias and replacing them with electric-battery-powered carriages.
