The Charros de Jalisco, reigning champions of the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), began the defense of the title with a first-round playoff opener against the Cañeros de Los Mochis Thursday, January 2 at the Charros Stadium in Zapopan.
The Charros got off to a winning start, defeating Los Mochis 5-2 in front of a full house. The Charros were always in control after driving in two runs in the first inning.
The second encounter in the seven-game series is scheduled Friday, January 3, 8 p.m.
The Charros head to Los Mochis for games three, four and five (if needed) from January 5 to 7.
If the series goes to games six and seven, they will be played at the Estadio Charros on Thursday, January 9 and Friday, January 10, both at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at charrosjalisco.com/boletos.
The LMP semi-finals are scheduled January 12-20, and the final series January 22-30.
The Charros lost their final game of the regular season to Tomateros de Culiacán December 30 to finish third in the overall standings.
