The Liga Mx Apertura 2022 soccer season starts up this weekend, with champions Atlas in search of a three-peat following their triumph in the Clausura 2022 tournament at the end of May.
The players have had little time to rest, since the season will start and finish earlier than usual due to the World Cup taking place in November and December in Qatar. Chivas get the ball rolling with two home games at the Akron Stadium on Saturday, July 2, 5 p.m., against FC Juarez and on Saturday, July 9, 7 p.m. against Atletico San Luis. Atlas play two road games before their first home game at the Jalisco Stadium on Saturday, July 16, 5 p.m. against Cruz Azul.
This season’s Liga Mx playoffs will be played in October so players with the national team have plenty of time to prepare for Mexico’s first World Cup game, set for Tuesday, November 22 against Poland.
