The Astros de Jalisco are flying high as the regular season of the National Professional Basketball League (LNBP) winds down in early October.
As of September 12, the local team is in second place in the 16-team league standings with an 13-5 record, two points behind the leaders, Fuerza Regia de Monterrey.
The LNBP is Mexico’s premier professional basketball league, attracting many international players, especially from the United States. The league’s teams span the entire country, from Tijuana in the northwest to Cancún on the Caribbean coast.
Four two-game series are scheduled at the Astros Arena in Guadalajara over the next three weeks:
• Tuesday, September 17, 8 p.m. and Wednesday, September 18, 6 p.m. vs. Fuerza Regia de Monterrey.
• Friday, September 27, 8 p.m. and Saturday, September 28, 6 p.m. vs. Freseros de Irapuato.
• Friday, October 4, 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 5, 6 p.m. vs. San Luis Potosí.
Tickets range from 190 to 350 pesos for regular seating in the stadium, which has a capacity of 3,500 spectators. VIP zones and courtside seats cost between 700 and 1,000 pesos.
All games are played at the Arena Astros on Avenida Ávila Camacho, two blocks from Plaza Patria.
