Shortage of nurses

Jalisco is suffering from a deficit of around 7,000 nurses, according to Heath Secretary Jaime Agustin Gonzalez Alvarez.  Just under 20,000 nurses work in the public health institutions such as the IMSS, ISSTE, Hospitales Civiles and other Scertearia de Salud facilities.  After Gonzalez made his announcement, Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval said he would be taking steps to encourage more young people to make a career in nursing, as well as improve salaries.
