Symphony announces autumn lineup

The much-awaited fall season of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) has been unveiled, and will kick off Thursday, October 7, 8:30 p.m.,

and Sunday, October 10, 12:30 p.m., with Mozart’s “Paris” Symphony, called unusually animated and the first of his symphonies to use clarinets, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, known for its symphonic quality and prominent horn section.

pg3aThe OFJ has been on “summer vacation” but put on some programs in recent weeks and began in-person practices at its home base, Teatro Degollado in Guadalajara’s centro historico, in early September. All programs this fall season will be at the graceful Teatro Degollado but audiences will not be seated as closely together as in pre-Covid times. Concerts will be slightly shorter, in another nod to Covid. Tickets for the smaller seating should sell briskly. They cost 90 to 250 pesos.
