Following the lead of neighboring Tlaquepaque, Zapopan has installed a vibrant crochet canopy with a World Cup theme along the center’s Andador 20 de Noviembre pedestrian walkway.
Created by more than 200 women weavers from the Asociación de Tejedoras de Etzatlán, the installation features hand-crafted totems displaying the flags and colors of the seven national teams that will play in Guadalajara during the 2026 World Cup: Mexico, Colombia, South Korea, Uruguay, Spain, Czechia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The design is inspired by an Aztec serpent that appears to change color as it winds through the pedestrian walkway.
The canopy, which has quickly become a popular photo spot for families, couples and tourists, will remain in place throughout the tournament.
